PRE-DEVELOPMENT — Scoping
the Project:
The Client is expected to provide
enough information for us to supply an accurate Quote
In order to run a Project effectively, we would like you to
supply us with as much information about what you want to
achieve with your website as you can: how it will relate to
the overall business aims of your company, what kind of branding
will be used (it is often best to synchronise branding across
your offline and online advertising and marketing procedures)
and perhaps what sites you like - and also those you don't.
This enables us to give an accurate Quote that reflects your
intended aims for the website and what it is supposed to achieve
for your business. |
Typical things to think about at the outset of
ANY website will include:
What design and layout is preferred to get your message across
appropriately, where you will be hosting your site, purchasing
the right kind of domain name if you haven't got one, and
if you are intending to sell products and services online,
how you will charge your customers and whether you need to
obtain a Merchant Account facility with your bank. Another
very important consideration is your intended budget : if
you do not intend to commit financially to a website, then
it could be better to avoid one.
Websites in this day and age are not merely static advertisements
anymore, they are strategic business tools and should be treated
with the same seriousness as anything else in running your
business — and all the more so if your business may
be entirely 'virtual'.
If you have examples of what you like and also what you do
not like, this is the best way to outline your thoughts to
your chosen developer so they have a good idea about you intend
to market your presence against that of your competition.
Bear in mind that the more 'bells and whistles' you have,
the higher the costs of implementation. It's far better to
start off with a limited but wholly effective presence, and
roll out more options later, than to commence a Project that
might not hit the mark if it involves too much, too soon. |
